Butcher – Quick Review

“As a cyborg programmed to eradicate the last remains of humanity, your sole purpose is to well… annihilate anything that moves.”

Ever wanted to know what Doom would be like in a 2D-Sidescrolling action indie game? Well, look no further because Butcher is literally that.

The story is simplistic as it is bloody. You’re a cyborg that’s out to kill any human existence on an abandoned space station.

The game’s easiest difficulty settings is hard, and 2 more difficulties following that.. make it harder. Every one of the 20 levels are hand-crafted from the developers perspective.

The biggest positive I noticed about this game is the fact how detailed the gore is. Even for a game with pixel graphics it’s still impressive to see dead bodies hang from hooks when blasting them with your powerful shotgun.

The only downside? There’s not much content. However, the cheap $9.99 price point makes up for it. The strong difficulty level will keep you for playing this game for hours on end!

Overall: The game is literally Doom in pixel graphics. With some extremely hard difficulty levels spread throughout. The gore shown in this game is pretty grusome for a 2D indie game. For it’s $9.99 price it’s worth it. The downside? Not much to offer other than the 20 levels. The visuals and music is superb for what it has. More features will be added like speedrun mode in the near future.
